With support from The Cooperative Fund, farmers were introduced with modern technologies and approaches in agriculture

On April 2, 2019, The Cooperative Fund organized the first meeting with farmers on the topic "Modern technologies and tested approaches in agriculture."

The aim of the event was to facilitate the access to information on modern technologies and existing methods in agriculture for agricultural cooperative members, and foster cooperation between the farmers and service providers.

The event was hosted by the organization Kartlisi. Representatives from the organizations Eleksiri and Energy Efficiency Center participated in the meetings and presented their services and products to the farmers.

The event was opened by the head of the Cooperative Fund, Natia Katsia, who talked about the importance of transferring from traditional agriculture to modern technologies in agriculture, and noted, that The Cooperative Fund will continue similar meetings, to increase access to necessary information and knowledge for farmers’ cooperatives.

At the meeting, the representatives from Kartlisi – Lela Gvasalia, Guram Mosiashvili, and Nino Mumladze – introduced the farmers with Kartlisi’s work and presented tested methods and achieved results by Kartlisi, a selection of irrigation system for the land, and analysis of the soil and nutrition for the cultures.

The innovative product Eleksiri was presented at the meeting by Giorgi Zviadadze, the managing partner of Inolab. The event was closed by the representative of Energy Efficiency Center in Georgoa, Vakhtang Zarkua, who updated the participants about new energy efficient technologies in agriculture. The presentations were followed by question and answer sessions. The attendees were able to get necessary information about the discussed issues. The farmers noted that gaining knowledge and information is crucial for successful development of their businesses. “Knowledge and right information. This is what we needed the most at the moment,” said Levan Khmaladze, a member of the fund.

After the event, balneologic resort Tskaltubo hosted the cooperative fund members and provided with wellness services.

The Cooperative Fund is a member based non-entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entity, which aims to strengthen and capacitate the agricultural cooperatives by increasing their access to finance and facilitating introduction of new technologies and methods in cooperatives’ production. The Cooperative Fund was founded in 2017, based on the cooperatives under ENPARD cooperatives project, implemented by CARE. The Cooperative Fund is supported by CARE.
